From Madagascar
Madagascar may well be known for its lemurs, Baobab trees, coffee and vanilla, but there is also a thriving cocoa-farming tradition. Our cocoa farmers are in the Sambirano valley in the northwest of the island where the warm, wet microclimate and rich volcanic soil provides the perfect conditions. Spread out and tricky to get to, the farms are small family businesses with few employees who make use of the fast-growing hardwood trees to provide shade for the precious cocoa crop.
