From The Dominican Republic
Our only origin in the Caribbean, cocoa growing has developed well on the island over the last twenty years. The cocoa grown here is interesting and complex, giving us a good reason to stray from our usual Pacific and Indian Ocean origins. The cocoa we buy grows close to the northeast coast of the island where organic soil and idyllic beaches abound. Expect taste notes of brown fruit rather than the usual liquorice and blackcurrant.
