Everything Vegan

Everything Vegan

When the cocoa bean is queen, it's manna for vegans and those preferring a plant-based lifestyle. Expertly crafted to harness the natural mosaic of cacao, we've created a range of bars, gift boxes, thins, hot chocolate and more that vegans will love. For those who prefer milk chocolate, try our oat milk bars.

We source our cocoa beans directly from small, specialist locations where the farmers are dedicated to farming responsibly. Our chief forager hunts down the best beans grown in the rich, volcanic soils of far-away Pacific islands, each yielding their own deep, rich and intriguing flavours.

It's our intention that our dark and oat milk chocolates be suitable for vegans. However, they are made in the same environment as our milk chocolate bars and may not be suitable for dairy-free diets.

Questions We're often asked about vegan chocolate

Firetree’s vegan dark chocolate is crafted without any animal-derived ingredients, making it suitable for those following a vegan diet.

When the cocoa bean is queen, it's manna for vegans and those preferring a plant-based lifestyle. Expertly crafted to harness the natural mosaic of cacao, we've created a range of bars, gift boxes, thins, hot chocolate and more that vegans will love.

We source our cocoa beans directly from small, nutrient-rich volcanic islands where the farmers are dedicated to farming responsibly. Our chief forager hunts down the best beans grown on far-away Pacific islands, each yielding its own deep, rich and intriguing flavours.

Whether Firetree’s vegan chocolate online is healthier than regular chocolate depends on various factors, including the specific ingredients and how they are processed. Here are some points to consider:

Ingredient Quality: Firetree’s vegan chocolate often emphasises high-quality, natural ingredients. We avoid the additives and preservatives found in many regular chocolates.

Antioxidants: Like regular dark chocolate, Firetree’s vegan dark chocolate is rich in antioxidants such as flavonoids, which can help reduce inflammation and improve heart health. The health benefits largely depend on the cocoa content, with higher percentages offering more antioxidants.

Firetree’s signature range of single-estate dark chocolates happens to be vegan and the complex, layered taste notes in our chocolate are loved by chocolate connoisseurs and vegans alike. Dark chocolate contains no dairy or animal-derived ingredients making it a natural choice for anyone following a vegan or plant-based diet.

Rich Cocoa Flavour: Vegan chocolate from Firetree is often noted for its intense and pure cocoa flavour, as it relies solely on cocoa beans and cocoa butter without the addition of milk. This results in a more pronounced chocolate taste that can be richer and deeper compared to vegan milk chocolate.

Unique Flavor Notes: By sourcing cocoa beans directly from the farmers across remote volcanic islands in the South Pacific and Indian Ocean, each one of our bean-to-bar, single-estate vegan chocolates has its own unique flavour profile that reflects the terroir of the region. These taste notes can include hints of tropical fruits, nuts, and spices, adding complexity and variety to the taste experience.

As most vegans will know, dark chocolate is naturally suitable for a vegan lifestyle. With no dairy, dark chocolate contains only a handful of ingredients - cocoa mass or solids, cocoa butter and unrefined cane sugar.

For Firetree, it's not just about making vegan-friendly chocolate, it's about honouring the deeply complex taste notes inherent in each cocoa bean, depending on its origin, terroir and season.

Although all of our cocoa is nourished by rich volcanic soil, each of the different growing environments of our single-estate farms creates a world of flavour that vegans can discover and enjoy.

For Firetree's vegan, plant-based equivalent of milk chocolate, we use oat flour and rice powder to give the creamy texture that you would usually expect from dairy ingredients.

Firetree’s vegan chocolate is crafted to be as allergen-free as possible, but there are a few considerations to keep in mind.

While the ingredients in Firetree’s vegan chocolate do not include dairy or nuts, the products are manufactured on equipment that also processes dairy and nuts.

Firetree’s vegan chocolate bars do not contain soy lecithin, which is a common emulsifier in many chocolate products. Instead, we use natural sunflower lecithin, making it a suitable option for those avoiding soy.

Yes, you can use Firetree's vegan chocolate for baking. Firetree's vegan chocolate, with its high cocoa content and rich, complex flavours, can enhance your chocolate baking and making. You’ll find some recipe ideas on here and here are some simple ways to use our vegan chocolate in everyday treats:

Chocolate Cakes and Brownies: The intense cocoa flavour of Firetree's vegan chocolate for baking makes it an excellent choice for adding depth and richness to cakes and brownies. Its smooth texture ensures it melts well and incorporates seamlessly into batters.

Cookies: Chopped Firetree vegan chocolate in the UK can be used as a substitute for chocolate chips in cookies, providing a more gourmet and flavorful twist.

Melted Chocolate: our vegan dark chocolate is naturally lower in added sugar than milk chocolate which makes it perfect to melt as a dip for sweet fruits like strawberries, pineapple and mango or poured over your favourite dessert.

Vegan chocolate bars, like all chocolate, contain calories and fats. Eating it in excess can contribute to weight gain rather than weight loss. However, due to Firetree’s rich flavour, you might find that you need less of it to satisfy your cravings compared to other sweets.

Vegan chocolates have lower sugar content compared to regular milk chocolate. Consuming less sugar can help prevent blood sugar spikes and crashes, which are often associated with increased hunger and overeating.

Including a small amount of vegan chocolate as a subscription box in your diet as an occasional treat can help prevent feelings of deprivation, which can sometimes lead to overeating or binge eating later on.

Chocolate Bark: Melt vegan dark chocolate and spread it thinly on a baking sheet. Sprinkle with nuts, dried fruits, seeds, or coconut flakes, and let it set. This makes for a delicious and customizable snack or gift.

Chocolate Dipped Fruits: Dip fresh fruits like strawberries, bananas, or apple slices into melted vegan chocolate. Let them cool on parchment paper for a healthy and indulgent dessert.

Energy Balls: Combine melted vegan chocolate with oats, nuts, seeds, and a sweetener like maple syrup or dates. Roll the mixture into small balls for a quick and nutritious snack.
