Remote and hard to reach, Makira's rich volcanic soil gives us a cocoa bean that has a deep and complex flavour enhanced by gentle hints of grapefruit, raisin and caramel overtones. A taste experience as enchanting as its origins.

70g | Bean-to-Bar Craft | Single-Estate | Great Taste Award 2020

A wine-like, rich raisin aroma and a taste experience layered with notes of ripe grapefruit, caramel, sweet honey and toasted almonds.

Not only does Lucy, our farmer own the land herself, but she also exclusively hires women to help produce the cocoa.

Thanks to the profit she makes selling super-quality cocoa, her two daughters have been able to go to university in Australia, perhaps becoming the next generation to take on the business.

The peak of a primeval volcano, Makira's tropical climate and rugged terrain, with steep valleys, streams and waterfalls, and small flood is especially important for many important, endangered and endemic birds.

Cocoa mass, cocoa butter, unrefined sugar, emulsifier: sunflower lecithin.
